the irony in z-wounds

from Wired’s article comes an ironic z found to heal z-wounds! the real band-aid z preventing z death!:

Medical gauze hasn’t changed much since World War I: Medics can only stuff it into a gushing wound and pray. Now chemists have infused cotton gauze with nanoparticles…The new material could help save lives on the battlefield and in civilian situations, where trauma victims often bleed to death before they can be transported to a hospital or other medical facility.
The lifesaving fabric…is made by Z-Medica, a medical products company focused on innovative blood clotting technologies — hemostatic solutions that save lives.

but why the z? Robert Huebner of Z-Medica explained:

Z= Zeolite the mineral that was used in the first Generation of QuikClot®

and the origin of z zeolites:

Zeolites (Greek, zein, “to boil”; lithos, “a stone”) are hydrated aluminosilicate minerals and have a micro-porous structure.
The term was originally coined in the 18th century by a Swedish mineralogist named Axel Fredrik Cronstedt who observed, upon rapidly heating a natural mineral, that the stones began to dance about as the water evaporated. Using the Greek words which mean “stone that boils,” he called this material zeolite.

how lovely that these dancing z’s would later allow others to dance again as well!
thankz Robert!
